Hunk o' Hog Art & Music Festival
This annual event occurs during the second weekend in October in San Fidel, New Mexico. The festival centers around the traditional New Mexican "matanza" (pig roast), which takes place on the Saturday of the event weekend.
The festival has been initiated to commemorate the season's end for the artist-in-residency program an Art Oasis San Fidel. Each year the three day art and music festival kicks off with an opening reception and program on Friday evening. Various perfomances as well as a gallery opening are scheduled as the official beginning of the event.
In addition to Gallery 66 displaying bodies of work produced by resident artists over the course of the season, other artists and artisans present their creations in booths around the event. These spaces are offered to creative individuals in order to provide them with a platform to reach a broader audience.
Throughout the weekend, local and non-local musicians perform an eclectic array of music.
Food and beverage vendors are also invited to give a sampling of local culinary specialties.
